All commercial premises must comply with the Fire Services Act 1981 and 2003, which places a duty on the person in control of a premises to ensure the safety of everyone on site in the event of a fire. Part B of the Building Regulations goes further, requiring adequate fire detection, alarm systems, and safe exit routes, with all systems designed, installed, and maintained to IS 3218:2013.
